In 1913, on a Tuesday, Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany came to Washington on a good will visit. President Taft invited him up
to The Bronx to see the High School that bears his name (Taft High - not Kaiser High). While on that visit to 170th St, Willie
(the Kaiser - not Taft) stopped into the Griddle restaurant for a BLT (on a Kaiser roll) and a malted. He left no tip, which
infuriated Sol the waiter. He snapped this picture which he intended to put on the restaurant's wall which showed all the
cheapskates. But he aimed his Brownie too high and just caught the Kaiser's helmet. Thousands of GI's in World War I used
to laugh at the silly hats while taking aim.
